Budget overage

I have been working to get some transparency in out Village finances. The emails below show my inquiries into money that is unaccounted for.   I recently got a reply, but not all questions were answered, and the answers that I got are completely different from what the Village Administrator told the Board. Also, the new explanations still leave thousands of dollars unaccounted for. The ongoing vagueness and inconsistencies in this area raises red flags for me.       Granted, the current treasurer after almost 4 months is still sorting out the mess left by the previous treasurer, but we need a better accounting of taxpayer money than what we are getting. The Village Board is supposed to review the entire financial report once a month, but our financial situation has basically gone black since September of 2021, with no information at all coming forth until very recently, and the report that finally came out is still not accurate.      Th...

The Investigation Part 2.5 - Open Records Antics

A7 I have a few questions about the latest (June 22) Village Board meeting. They have to do with my observations of: Another apparently illegal closed session meeting among a list of others. Extraordinary commandeering by the Village Board of the Village Clerk's duties as records custodian for questionable purposes. The Board's redaction of records without providing a legal reason. Joling's history of opposition to Open Records and Open Meetings. The Village Board firing an employee in almost the most inept, lawsuit-inviting manner possible. More incompetence, more lawlessness, more weak, failed leadership (all alleged). It looks to me, like the Village Board led by President Dan Joling has conducted yet another illegal closed session to conduct business that has not been properly disclosed to the public. It appears to me that this habit of his has been going on consistently ever since he has been appointed president, which was also about the same time that James Davel...

The Investigation Part 2, A dive into how these "third-party, outside investigations work."

Be sure to check out my other posts!             The "Investigation" Part 2 In the previous post on this site "The 'Investigation' Part 1" we looked at some introductory information regarding facts and events relating to President Joling's "third-party investigation", such as: The current $40,000 "third-party investigation" had no apparent legitimate basis. There was no "complaint" involved at all, other than some kind of phantom, fictionalized one apparently imagined by President Joling. Joling  appears to have initiated the process of an investigation into a non-existent "complaint" without informing or consulting the Village Board, as required by Village Policy. To the extent of addressing Administrator Davel's behavior, Joling apparently ignored the policy of procedures directed in the Employee Handbook and Village Policy HR-009, intended to quickly resolve such matters. Dan Joling seems to have had...

The Investigation Part 1.1 upgrade - Something Wicked this way Comes

Be sure to check my other posts on this site! The Investigation Part 1 The key takeaway information in this report is: The current $40,000 "third-party investigation" appears to have had no apparent legitimate purpose. There was no "complaint" other than some unseen, apparently fictionalized one conjured up by President Joling. Joling apparently initiated the process of an investigation without informing the Village Board. To the extent that there might need to be a dispute resolution of some kind, Joling appears to have  ignored the policy procedures directed in the Employee Handbook. Dan Joling  appears to have directed the course of the investigation as it took place ; providing documents and questions for the interviewees, he also was a witness and I would say a "person of interest" allegedly being responsible for a gross waste of taxpayer money.  It appears that h e had a  clear personal stake in the outcome of the investigation. The closed sessi...
